Tarrango is an Australian grape, created by CSIRO scientists in colaboration with the Brown Brothers Winery in 1965 by crossing the Portuguese red grape "Touriga" with the white grape "Sultana". It was developed specifically to produce a fresh red wine, ideal for drinking in the warmer summer months and was named after the small township of Tarrango in the "Mallee" district of northwest Victoria.
